Editor's Verdict:

GCruise.com has all the features you would expect in a gay dating site (internal e-mail, chat rooms, instant messaging, etc.) as well as some fairly advanced features, including video chat and SMS alerts (US only).

The size of the members' database at GCruise.com is unknown to us, however, it has a fairly low Alexa ranking, which implies that it doesn't have as many visitors as some of the other major gay dating sites, notably OutPersonals.com and Gay.com. So when we signed up and entered our location in the UK, we didn't really expect to see that many profiles in our local area. However, we were pleasantly surprised and found more than a few young men in our local area, some of whom were even online at the time.

One of the great things about GCruise.com is that you can do quite a bit as a free member, including performing advanced searches, viewing an unlimited number of profiles, viewing most of the members pictures, including the x-rated pics, and flirting with other members. The flirt feature on GCruise.com is fairly different to those found on other dating sites. Most gay dating sites allow you to gauge another member's response to your profile by sending him a wink or a smile, and then if he winks or smiles back then you know you're in business and you can choose to take things further, possibly by upgrading your membership so you can e-mail each other. The principle is much the same on GCruise.com, but instead of sending a simple wink or smile, you flirt with another member by choosing one of around 15 different pre-written one-line e-mails to send them, ranging from "DAMN! You're just my type" to "Are you ever in the Videochat? I'd love to go 1 on 1 with you!". As you can probably tell, you can't say that much in using these one liners, and you will still need to upgrade your membership in order to e-mail the other party to have any sort of meaningful dialogue, but the fact that you can choose from a list of one-liners does make flirting a bit more fun! This is a fairly unusual feature and we think it's quite a nice touch.

Next it was time for us to visit the chat rooms. There are a multitude of different chat rooms available on GCruise.com, but unfortunately most were empty when we wandered in. The chat rooms range from a completer free-for-all room, where anyone can chat and expose themselves on webcam, if they feel the urge, to private chat rooms where only members that you've added to your Favorites list can join you. There are also many other chat rooms, including "Dungeon Lovin", "Transworld" and "The Frathouse". The free-for-all room had about 8 members in there the first time we visited and all the rest were empty. After a few visits to the chat rooms at different times of the day, the most we found in there were 23 members, so it's clear that the chat rooms on GCruise.com are not very busy - a far cry from the buzzing chat rooms found on OutPersonals.com and Gay.com! Still, you may still find the chat rooms a fun place to hang out. You can communicate with other members via your webcam, microphone or just simple text messaging. Members with webcams are highlighted in Orange, allowing you to take your pick as to which one you want to watch. Note that you don't need a webcam yourself in order to watch other members getting off on theirs!

Having traversed the site quite a bit, it seems fairly clear to us that GCruise.com is not a huge site, though it does have many features and is very nicely laid out and easy to navigate with all the features you need listed on the left hand side of every screen. It doesn't have an online magazine section, like most of the larger gay dating sites do, but as far as we could tell that's about the only feature that's missing from GCruise.com. In summary we would have to say that this site is worth a look, especially as you can do so much as a free member, including viewing profiles in their entirety and viewing large size x-rated member photographs, however if you really want to boost your chances of success, you may wish to try a larger gay dating site such as OutPersonals or Gay.com.

GCruise review I've been searching for a good dating site and have read countless reviews on them and decided to give gcruise a chance. I signed up and attached my webcam and immediately started chatting with guy in the video chatroom. I think there were about 60 guys in the room, maybe half had a webcam. It was a busy night apparently. I met some locals, as well as some not so local men and I've been a loyal member since!
