Performing a Search on Scanna.com:
Before you even sign up on Scanna.com you may perform a fairly advanced search according to the following criteria...
- Age range (in multiples of 5 years)
- Height range (in multiples of 0.1m)
- Weight range (in multiples of 20lbs)
- Eye color
- Hair color
- Education level
- English level (elementary to advanced)
- Country (you may only select one)
- City
- Drinking habits
- Smoking habits
- Second language
- Keyword search, enabling you to search all the profiles for a particular set of words
- Lady ID Number (if you happen know the ID of the lady you wish to find)
You may also filter your search results by
- New women only
- Online women only
- Women with SMS enabled only
- Women with photos on their profile pages only
Additionally, a reverse age search facility is provided where you type in your age and your search results will be filtered for women who are looking for men in your age group. This can be a very useful feature, particularly if you're 55+ years old, as it will allow you to focus your efforts on women who are looking for men of your age. Editor's Verdict:
Scanna.com is another long-standing website in the field of international dating and mail order bride services, having been established back in 1980. As such it has built up a certain reputation and is now a popular website amongst those looking for Eastern brides and is thus well worth mentioning here. The site is professionally designed and easy to navigate, and contains many stunningly attractive women from all over the world. The search facility is impressive, allowing you to perform advanced searches before even signing up as a free member. We particularly liked the keyword search, which will allow you to search the profiles of the women on the site for a particular keyword or set of keywords. So for instance, if you wanted to find a woman who was interested in gardening or who loved cats, you might include the keywords "gardening" or "cats" in with your search. The reverse age search on Scanna.com is also very useful and allows you to find women who are looking for men in your age group. Many younger women are looking for men up to 40 years old for instance. You may be wasting your time if you're 55 years old, let's say, and these women's profiles are included in your search results. Including your age in this field at the bottom of the search form will filter your results for women who are looking for men of your age. Having said all that, the search form isn't perfect. You can only search the age range, weight range and height range of women within various pre-determined multiples - for example, you can search the age range within multiples of 5 years, which seems like a lot. If you wanted to search for women who are within a couple of years of being 30 years old, let's say, you couldn't do it. Instead you would have to search for women between the ages of 25 and 35, as you simply couldn't search for women between 28 and 32, as the search form just won't let you! In this example you wanted to search within an age range of 4 years but instead you had to search within an age range of 10 years - imagine how many unwanted results you'd get in that search! This is a shame, because it is an annoyance that would be so easy to fix. Also, it would be nice if you could select multiple countries to search within, but you can only select one country or all countries. You couldn't for instance search within the Ukraine and Russia without performing two separate searches. It would also be nice if, having selected your country, the list of cities you can search by would have been filtered for only the cities in your country of choice, but instead all cities in all countries are presented to you, even after you've selected your country! This again is quite annoying and yet would be so easy to fix.
There are a few other features that were noticeably absent from the features list at Scanna.com that you might expect to find in a mail order bride site and that are present in many of our other mail order bride websites in this category. We'll just summarize a few of the important features that are missing here...
- There doesn't seem to be and immigration visa support for anyone wanting to bring a foreign wife back to their own country of residence
- No international romantic tours are offered
- No translation services are provided, either for your letters, e-mails or telephone conversations
- You need to upgrade to a paid membership before you can even READ any e-mails that are sent to you, let alone REPLY!
- The minimum joining period for paid-membership is 6 months. It would be nice if you could join for 1 month.
You would expect most if not all of these features on a mail order bride website, yet Scanna.com seems to have none of them. This is a great pity, as we found many of the women on the site to be of supermodel quality which made us really want to rank this site higher than we have done. So in summary we would give a big thumbs up to the ladies on Scanna.com, but a big thumbs down to the features and services offered by Scanna.
